Your sweet potato can be:


  • roasted
  • boiled
  • baked
  • steamed

and mashed together with some:

  • apples
  • potatoes
  • sweet potatoes
  • beets
  • tomatoes
  • peas
  • chicken

How to roast carrots for baby food:

  1. put your carrots in a non-stick frying pan
  2. put the lid on
  3. cook the carrots on a low flame (30 minutes)

How to boil carrot for baby food:

  1. fill a cooking pot with water
  2. cut and add in your carrots
  3. bring to boil
  4. cook until tender (20 minutes)

How to bake carrot for baby food:

  1. preheat the oven to 350ºF (177ºC)
  2. toss your carrots in olive oil
  3. bake until carrots get dark orange/almost brown (40 minutes)

How to steam carrot for baby food:

  1. put carrots in a steaming basket
  2. put the steaming basket over a pan or pot with water
  3. steam at a medium flame until tender (15 minutes)

 

This simple carrot puree recipe form Laura is using roasted carrots. This brings out the sweetness. Easy and delicious.

  1. wash and peel around 8 carrots
  2. toss them in olive oil
  3. roast them till they get brown spots
  4. transfer into a blender and blend till smooth
  5. add water if needed

Michele likes to add a bit of nutmeg into her baby’s carrot puree. It brings out the earthy taste of the carrots even more. This particular baby food recipe uses steamed carrots.

  1. wash, peel around 8 carrots
  2. cut them into small pieces
  3. steam over boiling water until tender (10-15 minutes)
  4. blend in a food processor
  5. add water if needed

Another delicious, simple and super healthy baby food recipe also from Michele is this combination of carrot, apple, orange, ginger, and turmeric.

  1. wash and cut 4 carrots, 4 apples
  2. steam together over boiling water (10-15 minutes)
  3. transfer into blender
  4. add juice from 1/2 orange, a pinch of turmeric and a bit of ginger
  5. blend together, add water if needed

Stacey recommends quinoa to be the 1st cereal you will give your baby. For additional sweetness, mix it with carrots, apples or both.

  1. wash and cut 1 carrot and 1 apple
  2. steam together over boiling water (10-15 minutes)
  3. cook 1/2 cup quinoa
  4. transfer into blender
  5. blend together, add water if needed
